With the dropping out of Bernie Sanders earlier this month, it is clear Joe Biden will be the Democratic Nominee for the 2020 Election.
Americans, much like 2016 to many counts, seem to be stuck with two less than stellar options – Trump, with his dodgy term and dodgier character or Biden, with his well-observed creepiness and charisma like a wet flannel.
I would never accuse any one of any condition, or make any harsh judgements – but Biden is, pretty obviously, not as sharp as he used to be and there is rife speculation he may be suffering from dementia. It is no ones place to make that call – but what is clear is he almost reaches Bush Jr levels of gaffes.
From saying how kids love to rub his blond hairy legs in the swimming pool, calling a voter fat and a pig-faced soldier, Biden doesn’t seem to think before he speaks; or if he does, doesn’t think in any depth.
Biden also doesn’t seem to appeal to anyone and doesn’t seem to have any consistent views. He has no real selling point, and I can’t see how he beat out of other perfectly capable Democrats.
Then there’s Trump – who remains the shifty, morally (and three times literally) bankrupt character he’s always been. Somehow, the Democrats have managed to produce a candidate making that look like a viable option.
Trump is good at riling people up and building momentum – something Biden pails at in comparison. Biden did well on name recognition and nothing else – his rallies and speeches were weak.
2016 was a tough choice for many – with both options looking terrible. I fear 2020 will be the same, but worse. If Trump could win the first time, he can win again, and I predict he’ll win considerably.
